The details of Brian Gillis’ obituary have not been disclosed by his family.

Brian “Brizz” Gillis, a founding member of the 1990s boy band LFO, passed away on Wednesday, March 29th, 2023, at the age of 47.

This marks the third time that a member of LFO has passed away. Rich Cronin died at 36 in 2010 after a stroke during his battle with leukemia, and Devin Lima died of adrenal cancer in 2018 at the age of 41.

Brad Fischetti, another member of LFO, announced Gillis’ death on LFO’s Facebook page the following day.

He offered his condolences and shared that his relationship with Gillis was complex, encompassing both moments of hardship and great joy.

Fischetti added that he learned a lot from Gillis about the music industry, how to put on a great show, and that he would lean on those positive aspects of their relationship now and in the future.

Fischetti also shared that he had been praying for Gillis for many years and would continue to pray for him, his father, his friends, and his family, including two men who held a special place in his heart and in Gillis’ heart.

Representatives for LFO have not commented on Gillis’ death.

Gillis, Fischetti, and Cronin formed LFO in New Bedford, Massachusetts, in 1995. They achieved early success with a remake of Yvonne Elliman’s “If I Can’t Have You” and a cover of “Step By Step” by New Kids on the Block in 1997.

However, in 1999, Gillis left the band to focus on his solo career, and Lima joined in his place. The new trio released the classic boy band hit “Summer Girls” that same year.

LFO was managed by the infamous boy band manager Lou Pearlman, who was convicted of fraud and passed away in prison in 2016. The group split in 2002, but Fischetti and Lima briefly reunited in 2017.

Fischetti concluded his Facebook post by expressing hope that Gillis would be greeted by Cronin and Lima and they would make sweet sounds together.

The death of Brian “Brizz” Gillis marks a sad loss for the music industry and for fans of LFO.

Gillis’ passing is a reminder of the importance of cherishing and valuing our loved ones while they are still with us.

His legacy and the legacy of LFO will undoubtedly continue to inspire and impact future generations of musicians and music enthusiasts.
