The distribution of the video of the altercation at central regional high school led to the tragic death of a 14-year-old girl.

Adriana Kuch, a student at Central Regional High School, fell victim to bullying. She ended her own life two days after a video of her being brutally assaulted by other girls was shared on social media.

Kuch, recognized for her empathy by those who were acquainted with her, was assaulted by four girls at school last week, and the incident was recorded.

The footage, which was viewed by a Patch reporter, depicts Kuch walking along the hallway on February 1 when the girls arrived and initiated the assault.

In the graphic footage, the aggressive girls can be seen pouncing on Adriana. One of the girls struck a water bottle on Adriana’s face while the others continued to throw punches at her and dragged her by her hair.

The girls who bullied Adriana posted a video of the appalling assault on social media. The video spread rapidly on social media, garnering a range of responses from Adriana’s peers.

Individuals began mocking her and issuing threats of further violence. Two days later, on February 3rd, 2023, Adriana took her own life to put an end to the mistreatment once and for all. Her friends and family were left in a state of shock and grief.

Each girl involved in the altercation received a ten-day suspension – including Adriana Kuch. However, more action is being sought by those demanding justice.

“We want them to be prosecuted,” stated Meredith Demuro, a freshman at the school.

News 12 New Jersey reported that three girls were charged with third-degree felony assault, and the fourth was charged with disorderly conduct.

The school’s response to Kuch’s passing was inadequate, added Demuro. An announcement on the district website mentioned that a tragic death had occurred and that crisis counselors were available to those in need – but students state that the school administration did not inform them personally.

“Nobody was supposed to know Adriana killed herself,” said fellow student Lance Jones, but he said that teachers were discussing it, which is how the news spread throughout the school.

Jones asserted that when Adriana took her own life, the administration at the school attempted to have students delete the videos of the altercation. He alleged that the school was attempting to suppress the students.
