Reid Wiseman is among the four fortunate individuals who will embark on a journey to the moon no later than 2024.
These fortunate individuals will also be the first to test NASA’s Orion space capsule. The capsule, along with its four passengers, will be launched from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center using a Space Launch System rocket.
The historic trip to the moon will last approximately ten days. This crew, the first in 50 years to include a woman and an African American on a lunar mission, is composed entirely of individuals in their 40s.
This will be Commander Reid Wiseman’s second space mission, having previously served as a flight engineer on the International Space Station in 2014.
Wiseman has already spent 165 days in space and previously held the position of Chief of the Astronaut Office before retiring from that role in November 2022.
Due to his prior experience and skills, Commander Wiseman was chosen to lead and oversee the Artemins II mission.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and later obtained a master’s degree in systems engineering from the renowned Johns Hopkins University in 2006.
Reid is the proud father of two lovely daughters.
In 2020, at the age of 46, his beloved wife lost her battle with terminal cancer, disrupting his previously stable family life.
