Watson expressed a sense of unease and suspicion as she had not seen her grandmother in years. “It started off with a wellness check and it ended with someone being found in the freezer,” mentioned Watson.
Upon arrival at the residence in the Cragin neighborhood of Chicago, law enforcement discovered Regina’s remains in the freezer.
Residents in the building suspect that their landlady, Bratcher, might have positioned the body in the freezer. They also noted that refuse had been accumulating for a period, which raised suspicions.
Hector Yanez, an occupant of the building, mentioned that Bratcher had been cohabiting in the ground-floor unit with her mother for several years. Upon the discovery of the body, she was detained by law enforcement.
Yanez also indicated that the landlady had been providing conflicting narratives about her mother’s whereabouts, and the garage where the freezer was found was inaccessible to others.
The CPD is conducting an inquiry into the incident as a death investigation and has not yet confirmed if there was any foul play involved. The remains were removed from the residence on Monday night for further examination.
