Following a three-day absence, Gloria Bambo, a South African citizen and resident of McKinney, Texas, was found hanging in her garage.

Her former roommate, a white male, made the alarming discovery on Sunday, July 12, 2020.

According to a Facebook post by her friend Arnold, Gloria purportedly perished on July 9 in a garage, where she remained for three days, despite people residing there and repairs being carried out.

The lack of information regarding Gloria’s case is disconcerting. We urgently require answers regarding her fate.

Who Is Her Roommate? 

The McKinney department reported that Bambo, age 20, was found hanged by her “19-year-old male roommate.”

However, no details were disclosed regarding the time or location of the incident.

A Twitter account with the handle @ImNotJanel posted a statement on behalf of Bambo’s roommate, detailing the circumstances surrounding her passing.

According to the supposed statement from the roommate, Bambo grappled with mental health challenges such as bipolar and anxiety disorders.

The roommate also noted that Bambo was estranged from her family and had recently lost her job.

The Collin County NAACP reached out to the McKinney Police Department, urging them to provide further findings from the investigation.

They stressed that they would not rely solely on the roommate’s statement and requested additional evidence, including the autopsy results, scene photos, the roommate’s official statement, and a handwriting analysis of the letter.

Their objective is to pursue justice.

Police Department Statement

The department stated that Ms. Bambo’s 19-year-old male roommate discovered her deceased and fully cooperated during the investigation. 

Not everyone found this explanation convincing.

S. Lee Merritt, a human rights attorney, publicly challenged McKinney Mayor George Fuller on social media, demanding an investigation into Bambo’s death.

He shared this and tagged McKinney City Councilman La’Shadion Anthony.

As the investigation progresses, the Collin County NAACP has tweeted the McKinney Police Department seeking updates.

Someone noted that they would not accept the roommate’s statement alone.
