The couple officially ended their marriage in 2015 due to their conflicting views on work-life balance. Leah Messer felt that Jeremy was not devoting enough time to his family. Jeremy’s job as a pipeline engineer required him to be away for the majority of the time.

Teen Mom 2

Their relationship gained attention due to Teen Mom 2.

Teen Mom 2 chronicled the lives of four teen mothers during their early years of motherhood. Leah Messer was initially with Corey, her former spouse, and later with Jeremy Calvert. They experienced highs and lows in their marriage.

Issues such as frequent separations and encounters with ex-partners came to the forefront. However, Leah and Corey became engaged in 2010 and tied the knot in October of the same year to embark on their new life together. Their marriage was short-lived as Leah admitted to infidelity, leading to their divorce in June 2011.

Both Leah and Corey struggled to see eye to eye on parenting their children and reaching mutual agreements on custody and visitation following their divorce. It wasn’t long before Leah began a relationship with Jeremy Calvert.

Introduction of Jeremy Calvert

Leah initiated her relationship with Jeremy Calvert in August 2011. However, she soon appeared indecisive and contemplative about her true desires. Jeremy later proposed to Leah, and she accepted, seemingly laying their uncertainties to rest.

They announced their first pregnancy at the end of that year, during the Christmas period. Their joy was short-lived as Leah suffered a miscarriage the following month. In an effort to move past this loss, Jeremy Calvert and Leah Messer exchanged vows on 4th April 2012.

Their daughter Adalynn Faith was born on 4th February 2013, marking the couple’s first glimmer of hope for a happily ever after. The child arrived slightly premature, and Leah had to seek treatment for anxiety issues, describing her state as being constantly uneasy.

Marital Discord Resurfaces

Jeremy’s occupation as a pipeline engineer required him to relocate across the country for extended periods. This began to strain their family life. Jeremy and Leah began experiencing disputes over his prolonged absences and her anxiety and other mental health issues.

Being solely responsible for three children left Leah feeling stressed and anxious as a single parent. These frequent anxiety-inducing situations led to her being ordered by the courts to undergo drug tests to verify her condition and confirm whether she was struggling with addiction.

Divorce

As previously mentioned, Jeremy’s extended absences due to his job, coupled with Leah having to single-handedly care for her two previous children and their newborn, took a toll on her mental well-being. This strain resulted in diagnosed anxiety and stress.

The strain eventually led to marital discord, and the couple began to argue about the work-life balance Jeremy was maintaining with his family and child. After witnessing Leah’s deteriorating state and the intervention of the court, they made the decision to part ways, culminating in Jeremy filing for divorce.

Feeling overwhelmed by the weight of her decisions, custody battles, and ongoing family conflicts, the couple chose to go their separate ways, with Jeremy initiating the divorce proceedings.

Revelations in Hope, Grace & Faith

Leah later published a memoir titled Hope, Grace & Faith. The revelations she made in her book startled her audience and followers.

She disclosed that she hadn’t fully moved on from her former husband when she began dating Jeremy. She learned of her pregnancy with his child just as her previous husband was contemplating reconciling their marriage.

In her book, she wrote, “I was devastated. Having a baby with Jeremy would be the end of any chance Corey and I had of making things work for our family. I was sad for myself, but mostly I was sad for our girls.”

The Teen Mom 2 star then admitted to terminating her pregnancy due to her confusion, believing that carrying the child would tarnish her public image.

Terminating the Pregnancy Under the Guise of a Miscarriage

With the full support of her mother, they opted to portray it as a miscarriage to Jeremy, concealing the fact that she had willfully terminated the pregnancy. She took medication and began experiencing symptoms of a miscarriage.

The MTV star expressed regret but acknowledged that she had deliberately taken this step with full awareness, admitting that her past decisions had led to her downfall.

Jeremy Calvert’s Reaction to the Disclosure

Jeremy Calvert, in an exclusive interview with The Sun, revealed how he learned the truth and discovered that his then-wife hadn’t actually undergone an abortion but had orchestrated a miscarriage.

In his words, “I had heard rumors about the abortion after the cheating scandal and before we divorced. I never wanted to question a woman about that. Eventually, she told me the truth, and it was distressing to hear.”

Embracing a New Chapter

Jeremy Calvert expressed his desire to leave the past behind and move forward with his life. With no intention of dwelling on the past, he is content with coparenting.

“We’re now focused on co-parenting. There’s no need to revisit painful memories from the past.” Despite their tumultuous history, Jeremy shared, “She’s matured a lot, and I’m proud of the woman she has become.”

The former couple has been co-parenting their daughter since their separation in 2015.
