Kai Sotto Scandal – Is The Leaked Video A Blessing In Disguise?

The controversy surrounding Kai Sotto has brought the Filipino basketball player into the spotlight, and the leaked video of the player has been widely circulating on the internet.

Kai Sotto is a Filipino basketball player who towers at a height of 7’2″. He is currently a member of the Hiroshima Dragonflies in the Japanese B. League.

The 20-year-old has represented the Philippines National Basketball Team at both senior and junior levels.

However, the video is not as controversial or scandalous as many might anticipate. The leaked footage from 2020 showcased Sotto and 18-year-old Jalen Green showcasing their skills during their NBA G League games.

The two basketball prodigies were seen enjoying themselves during their games in the developmental league.

Jalen Green was selected as the 2nd overall pick by the Houston Rockers in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Meanwhile, Sotto was not eligible for the 2021 NBA Draft as he graduated from high school in the same year and could only be part of the 2022 draft.

After declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft, Sotto worked out for several teams but ultimately went undrafted.

Exploring Kai Sotto’s Basketball Journey

Kai Sotto joined the Ateneo de Manila High School in April 2016 and became part of the Quezon City junior basketball program.

He led the Aterno team to the UAAP Basketball Championship and was honored as the MVP of the finals, with an average of 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 6.3 blocks per game.

In the following season, Sotto averaged 25.1 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks and was named the UAAP juniors MVP.

In November 2019, he was enrolled in The Skill Factory, an Atlanta-based preparatory program.

The following year, Sotto made his debut, scoring 18 points and securing 12 rebounds in a 65-61 loss to IMG Academy.

He took part in the Basketball Without Borders Global Camp during the NBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago in February 2020. Major agencies in the United States recognized the 20-year-old as a consensus four-star recruit.

In February 2023, Sotto announced his departure from the Adelaide 36ers and his signing with an overseas team.

The Filipino basketball player then inked a deal with the Hiroshima Dragonflies in the Japanese B.League.

Sotto’s contract will expire at the end of the season, and he aims to participate in the NBA Summer League in 2023.
