Andy Stone, a well-known musician, has sued Mariah Carey and Walter Afanasieff, the co-writer of her hit song, over the song “All I Want For Christmas,” which she released in 1994.

A song with the same name was performed by pop group Vince Vance & the Valiants, and Andy, who co-wrote the song All I Want For Christmas Is You, is suing Mariah Carey for copyright infringement.

Walter Afanasieff, a 53-year-old American singer is also named in a complaint filed by songwriter Andy Stone, who claims that Carey and her colleagues knowingly, wilfully, and intentionally engaged in a campaign just to infringe on the song’s copyright.

Carey and Afanasieff are indeed blamed of “acts of unjust enrichment by the unauthorized appropriation of [the] plaintiff’s work and the goodwill associated therewith,” according to the papers.

Despite the fact that the two songs have distinct melodies and lyrics, Stone alleges that he co-wrote a song with the same name and did not grant rights for it to be utilized.

The complaint has already been filed in the Eastern District of Louisiana’s US District Court.
