Meet Jillian Michaels’ Wife – A New York City Fashion Designer

The spouse of Jillian Michaels is DeShanna Marie Minuto, a fashion designer from New York City, who specializes in selling reconstructed vintage jackets.

Jillian Michaels, the 49-year-old fitness trainer, got married to Marie Minuto in a private ceremony held in Namibia.

The couple of women got married on July 11, 2022, in a Miami courthouse before traveling to southern Africa for a close-knit ceremony and honeymoon.

Michaels expressed her feelings to her new partner, “Deshanna Marie Michaels – it’s a privilege and an exciting journey to say ‘I do’ to you. Finding you… my person… and eloping in Africa together has been one of the most enchanting and life-changing periods of my life.”

Jillian Michaels Opened Up About Her Unexpected Mishap Leading to a Spinal Injury

The previous star of “The Biggest Loser” shared the story of how she fractured her L3 vertebra in 2021.

The fitness icon spoke to People about facing a spinal injury that prompted her to withdraw from public life and keep it private for over a year as she contemplated her future health.

Michaels recounted that in the beginning of spring in 2021, while walking towards the bathroom for a casual conversation with her spouse, her legs slipped, and she hit her back on the edge of the bathtub.

After six weeks of enduring the injury, she experienced difficulty in movement and felt excruciating pain down her leg.

She was swiftly taken to the hospital, and subsequent tests and x-rays revealed that she had a “nerve impingement,” also known as a pinched nerve, though the back and leg pain persisted.

The fitness trainer mentioned, “I couldn’t sleep. The night-time pain was unbearable. I genuinely thought to myself, the only thing I can think of that would be worse than this would be burns. It was unbelievable. I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t stand. I had to crawl. I thought, ‘My life is over.’”

However, she consulted numerous physicians before visiting spine expert Dr. Stuart McGill, who diagnosed her with a fractured L3 vertebra in her spinal cord.

She had been doing her own stretching, which McGill indicated was aggravating the fracture by destabilizing her spine and causing a larger herniation in her back.

Jillian Michaels chose not to disclose the news of her injury, instead sharing old social media videos and avoiding interviews. She described the time when she disappeared from public view.

No one except her immediate circle knew about the injury and the incident. She decided not to share this story with anyone until she knew the outcome of her recovery.

It took Michaels nearly six months for her health to show signs of improvement through a plan outlined by McGill and by using a supported squat exercise machine.

Michaels mentioned that she has now returned to activities such as snowboarding, ice skating, and other physical activities but has been exercising “extra caution” since her injury.
