Peter Salvino Missing – The Ph.D. Student Was Found Dead

Peter Salvino, who had disappeared since Sunday, was discovered deceased on Tuesday.

The remains of the doctoral candidate from Northwestern University who disappeared after departing from a gathering in Chicago were located in Lake Michigan on Tuesday night.

Having departed from his residence in Chicago’s Lincoln Park area early on Sunday morning, Peter Salvino went missing.

At approximately six o’clock on Tuesday, Chicago Police announced that a body had been found in close proximity to where Salvino’s phone had last detected in Diversey Harbor.

The body was later confirmed to be that of Salvino by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities have not revealed the cause of death as an autopsy is still underway.

When was he last seen?

Salvino was on a FaceTime call with a friend as he was journeying to his apartment from the gathering around 12:15 a.m. on Sunday morning.

As per a statement from Salvino’s family, he was on a FaceTime call with a friend at 11:59 on Saturday night while he was on his way home, and the friend called back at 12:15 to check on him.

At that point, Salvino informed the friend that he was still en route home.

At 12:31 a.m., his phone was active near Diversey Harbor.

At 12:37 a.m., the friend called again to confirm if Salvino had reached home, but Salvino did not answer.

From that point until 9:30 a.m., several friends texted him, according to the family spokesperson.

The messages were successfully delivered to his phone, but none of his friends received a response.

By 9:45 a.m., all calls were redirected to voicemail, and all texts went undelivered.
