Spokane Tribe Casino Accident Leaves One Worker Dead

  • The incident at the Spokane tribe casino has forever changed the lives of Paul and Sandi Vetter.
  • On Tuesday morning, their beloved daughter Ana Vetter passed away due to a collapse at the construction site where she was employed.
  • “Safety was a top priority for her, and the devastation of this event is immeasurable,” Paul expressed.

On Tuesday morning, the tragic collapse at the construction site took the life of 27-year-old Ana Vetter, who was involved in an expansion project at the Spokane Tribe Casino.

Ana’s parents were notified of her untimely demise by her fiancé, who informed them about the collapse at the construction site, turning their world upside down.

Speaking about Ana’s passion for her profession, Sandi commented, “She was thrilled to be in Spokane and part of the union. She would wake up early to go to these job sites, and she truly relished it.”

Ana had a promising future ahead of her, having recently purchased a home in Nine Mile Falls and cherished outdoor activities, her fiancé, and four dogs.

Her father emphasized that Ana never compromised on safety measures, saying, “Safety was a top priority for her, and the devastation of this event is immeasurable,” Paul expressed.

The unfortunate collapse took place at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, March 7th, and the sound was heard by several casino guests. One guest likened it to an explosion, describing it as deafening and causing significant ground vibrations.

Swinerton Construction, responsible for the expansion, reported a formwork collapse as the cause of the incident. Formwork is utilized to shape concrete into structural forms. Fortunately, no other workers were injured.

The parents of the deceased express a desire for answers and urge people to remember their daughter, who they believe paved the way for other women in the construction industry.

Sandi, Ana’s mother, mentioned that her daughter never shied away from challenges. Instead, she tackled them head-on without complaints.

Javier De La Rosa, General Manager of Spokane Tribe Casino, stated, “The family and work crew onsite are at the forefront of our thoughts and prayers. We will continue to release information to the public as we learn more from the different agencies involved.””

Details of Ana Vetter’s obituary are yet to be announced. Condolences and prayers have been pouring in for her parents, and a vigil will be organized by the labor union in her honor.
