Who is the suspect? What prompted the shooting at Stanford mall? These are the questions that need answers to ensure justice is served.

Current Updates on the Ongoing Police Investigation

Around 5 p.m. on Monday, an unidentified individual opened fire inside an upscale eatery at Stanford Shopping Center, as reported by the Palo Alto police.

The incident, characterized as a drive-by shooting, is under investigation by the police. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

In a press release, the police stated that when they arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, they found that bullets had shattered a large glass window near the front entrance.

Following their examination, bullet casings from a firearm were found.

The police stated that they located a witness who observed an individual pointing a revolver out of the driver’s side window of a car.

As per the authorities, the suspect departed in a black Chevrolet Camaro heading north on El Camino Real.

The witness was unable to provide a description of the suspect. Subsequently, another abandoned vehicle, which had been shot at, was discovered parked in close proximity to the eatery.

Despite a witness reporting seeing someone firing gunshots at the restaurant from a black Chevrolet Camaro, no suspect has been apprehended.

There were reports of an individual wandering in the mall wearing a holster.

Aaron Ownes shared, “We found a roof access room and we were just hoping the shooter wouldn’t get in there.”

The authorities confirmed that they will continue their efforts to ensure the safety of the public while the investigation remains ongoing.

Councilman Greg Tanaka remarked on efforts being made to introduce license plate readers to the city.

“Evidence of at least two bullets being fired from that location was found on El Camino Real. A witness claims to have seen the suspect fleeing,” added PAPD.

“No lockdowns were ordered by the police as a result of this incident. Officers have conducted sweeps of all areas of the mall. To maintain public safety, a large number of officers were deployed,” according to a tweet from the police department at 5:35 p.m.

Furthermore, officers received second-hand information about an individual inside the mall who was believed to be carrying a holster on their waist.

Despite a substantial police presence and assurances that the area is now secure, the culprit remains at large.

The motive behind the shooting is still unclear to the authorities.

While the scene is being examined for evidence, the 100 blocks of El Camino Real were closed in both directions.

The investigation is ongoing.
