  • Human remains were discovered in Gwinnett-Barrow county on Monday, February 6th, 2023.
  • According to police, a bystander spotted them in Dacula along Drowning Creek Road on Monday night on Highway 316.

The missing person case of Susana Morales has concluded following the recovery of her remains in Gwinnett County.

Susana Morales went missing on the evening of July 26th, 2022. Suspected human remains of the 16-year-old Susana Morales were found in Gwinnett county.

Her family informed the investigators that she had texted her mom that she was heading home to Windscape Village Lane.

Further inspection revealed that a mobile application on Morales’ cell phone indicated that she was walking in that direction between 10:07 p.m. and 10:21 p.m. on the night of July 26th, 2022. However, the detectives suspected that she had entered a vehicle at some point.

Upon delving into her phone records, the authorities uncovered that between 10:21 p.m. and 10:26 p.m., she was in the vicinity of Oak Loch Trace and Steve Reynolds Boulevard.

Her phone signal was traced to that location until it either ceased functioning or was switched off. After a month-long inquiry, the police sought public assistance, stating that they had pursued all available leads.

Initially, the police conjectured that Susana Morales had absconded. There was no indication that she was being detained against her will; no signs of kidnapping or physical assault either, but they were still probing her disappearance. Police did not believe she was facing any specific peril.

She was last observed donning light blue jeans, a yellow spaghetti-strapped shirt, and white crocs. Her family had initiated an online fundraiser to conduct an independent quest.

On Monday, February 6th, 2023, human remains were found in Gwinnett-Barrow county. A bystander spotted them in Dacula along Drowning Creek Road Monday night on Highway 316, according to police.

Matt Johnson shared the discovery of Susana’s human remains on Twitter.

Despite the recovery of Susana’s remains, the police have not yet disclosed her cause of death. They are uncertain if foul play is involved.

“It does look like she has been there for some period of time,” Jennifer Richter of the Gwinnett County Police told FOX 5.

An examination of the DNA showed a match between Morales’ dental records and the newly discovered human remains, said the Gwinnett Medical Examiners’ office.

Richter said police are still working with the medical examiners’ office to discover Morales’ cause of death and other details in the case.

“Right now, we’re really looking at this as a death investigation. We haven’t ruled out homicide,” Richter said.
