Two Journalists Died In Qatar – What Was The Cause Of Death?

Grant Wahl, and Khalid al-Misslam, were the two correspondents who passed away in Qatar while covering the Worldcup 2022.

While reporting on the World Cup 2022 quarterfinal match between the Netherlands and Argentina, Grant Wahl tragically passed away in his seat on Friday night.

According to his spouse, he succumbed to an aortic aneurysm while reporting on the World Cup in Qatar.

Wahl encountered difficulty entering the stadiums because he was wearing a pro-LGBT top.

In Doha on Friday night, the esteemed football journalist, 48, collapsed during the extra time for Argentina vs. Netherlands game.

Medical personnel administered 20 minutes of CPR and an automatic chest compressor in an effort to resuscitate him.

According to reports, Wahl suffered a heart attack and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, where he passed away later.

Erik Wahl, Wahl’s sibling, stated his brother died shortly after he succumbed to his persistent criticism of the Qatari government.

As delineated by the sources, Celine Gounder, Wahl’s wife, mentioned on CBS: “It’s just one of those situations that had probably been festering for years.”

After the incident at Lusail Stadium, which occurred during extra time, medical professionals attended to him, and his passing was subsequently reported.

Wahl, who had sought medical care at a hospital the previous Monday due to feeling unwell, was attending his eighth World Cup.

According to Grant Wahl’s widow, his death from an aneurysm while covering the World Cup in Qatar was not the result of foul play.

His body was flown back to the US for an autopsy.

As a vocal critic of the Qatari regime who had received death threats for wearing a rainbow jersey to the USA vs. Wales game in support of the LGBT community, questions arose surrounding Wahl’s death.

Before his passing, he had complained of bronchitis-related death rattle cough.

According to a witness, Wahl seemed to be in good spirits and was laughing with colleagues from his seat at the Lusail Stadium just before he collapsed.

Another reporter also died

A photojournalist from Qatar named Khalid al-Misslam, who worked for Al Kass TV, passed away on Sunday.

Following the abrupt death of a US journalist wearing an LGBTQ+ T-shirt from a “heart attack,” another reporter suddenly passed away at the World Cup in Qatar.

Authorities in Qatar stated that they do not yet know what caused his death.

Al Kass TV, which briefly announced his passing in a live broadcast and seemed to be waiting for more information, confirmed the news.

This occurred barely 48 hours after American journalist Grant Wahl passed away.
