Reportedly, Tyler Edwards passed away at the age of 27 on Monday. Tyler’s students and friends were left in a state of disbelief when they received the news of his passing. 

The athletes who had the privilege of being coached by Edwards for a year expressed how profoundly his passing had impacted their lives. Some of them expressed bewilderment upon receiving the news of his demise. 

Shooting guard Donovan Cummings remarked on the challenge of dealing with his emotions. He stated, “It’s an utterly startling experience that I never envisioned.”

Easton Hood commented, “It’s surreal that he is not here witnessing our successful shots.”

Out of seven players, Cummings and Hood were the individuals who returned to the gym after learning about Tyler’s passing. They mentioned that Tyler’s presence seemed to reverberate within the walls.

Point guard Nate Schab shared that Tyler aimed to demonstrate that unity fortifies the team. He added, “He would want us to remain united, communicate, stay optimistic, and uphold the principles he imparted to us.” 

Edwards’s players conveyed that, during their interactions with him, they imbibed lessons in positivity. According to his players, Tyler possessed the most radiant smile they had ever seen. 

Owing to his teachings on positivity, his girlfriend, Kayla Brooks, has been coping with his passing. She communicated her sentiments following his demise, expressing profound grief.

She mentioned that her boyfriend exuded an extraordinary charm and left an indelible mark on everyone he engaged with. Kayla added that individuals in high school posted tributes to Tyler after his passing. 

In a tribute from high school peers, they said, “Although we haven’t been in contact lately, you guided me through a challenging period in my life. You were present for me at that moment. And individuals from college, parents, his players, and his family.”

It was confirmed that Tyler was affiliated with the Panthers for a year. According to his players, that year was not solely about victory or defeat, but centered on development and cultivating a more positive outlook on life. 

Shooting guard Andrew Commeret elaborated on why the team held Edwards in such high regard. He conveyed that they admired and cherished him for the small gestures he would make. 

He explained that these gestures contributed to brightening their days. He recounted an incident when he was walking on the field with headphones for practice, and Tyler inquired about the song he was listening to. 

Senior small forward Warren Cody relayed that Tyler was indifferent to whether they won by 20 or lost by 20 points. After matches, Tyler would check in to ensure his players were coping. He recounted what Edwards had told him, stating, “Pursue peace, not happiness.” 

The district has extended its sympathies following Tyler Edwards’s passing. Comstock Park high school has announced the resumption of classes for next week.
