Ifeanyi, the young child of Nigerian musician Davido, tragically drowned in a pool at the family’s residence in Lagos. He was merely three years old.
This heart-wrenching incident took place on Monday, while the music artist, known as David Adeleke, and his partner, Chioma Rowland, were absent from their abode.
Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the 3-year-old of the 29-year-old artist’s untimely demise involved interviewing eight members of the celebrity’s household staff.
Davido, whose illustrious career has seen him collaborate with artists such as Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown, is yet to make any public statements about this tragic occurrence.
As per Benjamin Hundeyin, a police spokesperson, and a household staff member, called 911 at 10 p.m on Monday, 31st October 2022.
The cleaning crew were the first to notice Ifeanyi underwater. According to a family source, the child spent a prolonged period in the water.
Subsequently, they retrieved him and rushed him to the hospital, but it was futile.
Ifeanyi’s demise is still being investigated as a potential homicide. Preliminary examinations are ongoing.
According to Hundeyin, ‘We are scrutinizing CCTV footage to gather more details regarding the circumstances of his passing. The mortuary has received his body. We have been in contact with his parents. They actually stayed with us the previous night.’
David also has two children from previous relationships: Aurora Imade, 7, and Hailey Veronica, 5.
Davido’s representatives have chosen not to comment at this juncture.

A few days after his third birthday, the toddler passed away. Ifeanyi, who was found deceased in Nigeria, was born to Davido and his partner, Chioma Rowland, in Atlanta.
‘I’m truly speechless,’ posted the singer Paul Play Dairo on social media. ‘This is so painful. David, stay strong.’
‘I vowed not to believe anything on social media unless I verify it myself,’ remarked actor Williams Uchemba. ‘I wished it was untrue. I’m angry, grieved, and puzzled. No one should experience such pain.’
Iyabo Ojo, a Nigerian actress, expressed, ‘I don’t even know how to respond to this terrible shock. I wish this wasn’t true. My God, this is so distressing, disheartening, horrific, and agonizing.’
Peter Obi, a prominent candidate for the 2023 Nigerian presidential race, asserted that he cannot fathom the anguish Davido and his partner are enduring.
He wrote, ‘I extend my heartfelt sympathies to Davido and Chioma on the loss of their son Ifeanyi. I cannot even begin to comprehend the pain they are going through. May they find peace, resilience, and solace from God during this difficult time. My prayers and thoughts are with the family.’
