Is suffering from throat cancer?

Boston sports radio presenter Fred Toucher, also a co-host on the show “Toucher & Rich,” recently announced that he would be undergoing throat surgery.

He commended the show’s listeners for helping to save his life after disclosing that he had consulted a physician recommended by another listener.

Toucher’s co-host, Rich Shertenlieb, informed the audience on Monday about the situation, reading a statement aloud and informing them that Toucher had been battling voice issues for quite some time.

He stated, “My voice has been impaired for a long time.” Despite seeking medical attention, his condition did not seem to concern the doctors.

An audience member heard him and connected him with a medical professional he collaborates with. They indicated that the results could have been more favorable.

The doctor’s discovery of concerning issues in Toucher’s throat was alarming. Despite Toucher’s apprehension, the physician reassured him confidently that he could address any problem. Unfortunately, Toucher’s life took a turn for the worse after that specific appointment.

They identified a few areas for improvement in the situation. Toucher will undergo surgery in the near future, so it’s natural to assume that he won’t be on air for a while. He expressed his gratitude, albeit lightheartedly, while disclosing that he was feeling financially strained due to requiring surgery and going through a divorce simultaneously.

“I’m grateful, even though the doctor does not accept insurance,” he said. “Due to this and the recent divorce, I’m in a financial bind! I’m sorry, but Christmas will be somewhat different this year.”

The 48-year-old man announced his intention to return to radio despite being prohibited from speaking in any capacity.

The radio show “Toucher & Rich” has officially moved to station 98.5: The Sports Hub, which opened its doors in Boston in 2009 and has been an institution ever since.
