Annie Kasprzak Obituary – How Did She Die?

Annie Kasprzak’s passing and death details were shown in Investigation Discovery.

The pursuit for missing teenager Annie Kasprzak concluded in 2012 when her body was located in a river.

However, the quest for her assailant posed challenges for the authorities.

A Time To Kill: Murder on the Jordan River on Investigation Discovery delves into the circumstances surrounding the young girl’s demise and the eventual capture of the assailant.

Let’s delve deeper into the story.

What transpired with Annie Kasprzak?

Having grown up in foster care and enduring mistreatment, Annie Kasprzak, aged 15, was adopted by the Kasprzak family at the age of nine.

Annie was a freshman at the Summit Academy in Draper, Utah, at that time.

Annie’s guardians reported her disappearance on March 10, 2012, after they were unable to reach her.

The authorities found Annie’s body downstream in the river.

As per the autopsy, she suffered numerous blunt force traumas, resulting in multiple skull fractures.

At the time of her demise, it was revealed that Annie had been in a relationship with Darwin Christopher Bagshaw for about a year and a half.

Their final interaction occurred around 8:30 p.m. Consequently, the authorities began focusing on Darwin.

Upon their initial questioning after the discovery of the deceased, he had blood on his shoes, but he claimed it was from a recent bloody nose suffered by Annie two weeks prior.

Initially, a friend corroborated the assertion but later admitted that Darwin had asked him to deceive the authorities.

The friend disclosed that Darwin had informed him of being near the Jordan River the night Annie went missing but had instructed him to keep it under wraps.

Data from Darwin’s phone seemed to support his whereabouts that evening.

When he conversed with Annie’s mother, he was in proximity to the crime scene.

While residing with his parents in Colorado at the time, Darwin was arrested in October 2014.

In his trash, the authorities found a piece of paper containing a timeline of events and a mention of Annie’s jacket from that evening.

The prosecution alleged that Darwin was enraged because Annie purportedly lied to others about being pregnant with his child, which led to a confrontation, resulting in him repeatedly striking her with a shovel near the river and then discarding her body.

Furthermore, Darwin confessed to the murder of another individual who was in custody.

What allegations were made against Darwin Christopher Bagshaw? Where is he now?

For Annie’s murder, Darwin pleaded guilty to first-degree felony murder.

He was handed a sentence of 15 years to life for the crime when he was 18 years old.

‘I deeply regret everything that transpired,’ Darwin expressed his remorse in court. ‘I wish to extend my apologies to Annie’s family.’

His defense contended that he was under the influence of drugs when he lost control upon learning about the pregnancy in a prior attempt to secure a lighter sentence.

As per prison records, Darwin is currently incarcerated at the Central Utah Correctional Facility in the town of Gunnison, Sanpete County.

He will be eligible for parole in October 2034.
