Anthony Rumble Johnson, a competitor in the light heavyweight division of MMA with a career record of 23-6, departed on Sunday. At the time of his passing, he was 38 years old.
Bellator MMA made public Johnson’s demise on social media on Sunday. As reported by a representative of Bellator, Johnson had been unwell for over a year.
Johnson’s reason for passing away was initially unveiled on Sunday by Kevin Iole of YahooSport. The former fighter succumbed to hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis and non-lymphoma Hodgkin’s, leading to organ failure.
The company expressed its sorrow over his premature passing and offered its sympathies to his friends and family during this challenging time.
On Sunday, Bellator MMA, one of the organizations Johnson competed for, announced on social media about the former fighter’s demise.
When Johnson’s passing was announced, few details were available.
It was known that Johnson had health issues, but the seriousness of his condition wasn’t evident until his manager, Ali Abdelaziz, requested prayers for Rumble on ESPN last month.
‘I request everyone’s prayers for him. Pray for Anthony. Regarding Johnson’s health,’ he stated, ‘He’s not doing well.’
The former UFC fighter reportedly passed away this past weekend after battling an illness he had allegedly been diagnosed with for quite some time.
The remaining details of his passing have not yet been disclosed.
Anthony Johnson’s record, which comprised 23 triumphs, 17 of which were by KO or TKO, was remarkable in its time.
He incurred just six defeats. Rumble participated in numerous UFC bouts over the years, starting in 2006, but he never secured a championship. Before retiring, he held the top spot in his weight class for some time.
He occasionally departed from the UFC, but in 2020, he formally joined Bellator MMA.
Middleweight, welterweight, light heavyweight, and ultimately, heavyweight were some of the weight classes Rumble competed in. He was most successful in the latter categories.

The UFC’s Michael Chiesa wrote in a post, ‘You’ll be missed, Anthony Rumble Johnson. One of the best KO performers in the history of our sport. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and all those impacted by this tragedy.’
One poignant recollection came from Daniel Cormier, who battled Rumble in the Octagon twice.
He stated, ‘Farewell, my brother. Anthony Johnson was a kind man despite being a man who made so many people shudder – from sporadic texts to check-ins while losing. Rumble was a wonderful person, and we will miss him. Life doesn’t always seem fair. appalling news.’
