On Sunday, January 9, Bob’s admirers were informed about his unexpected passing. The news spread rapidly across the media outlets, and the family made their first public appearance to convey their message. 

In a statement provided to US Weekly by late Bob’s family says, “We are devastated to confirm that our beloved Bob passed away today.”

The family added, “He meant everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter.”

Saget’s family also requested privacy after the comedian’s passing, and they also invited his dear fans to “join us in celebrating the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world.”

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported that Bob was declared deceased after multiple attempts to check on him in his hotel room. They received no response. 

Upon entering the hotel room, they found Bob unresponsive and lifeless at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando, Florida. 

The law enforcement officers were notified after discovering an unresponsive individual, and they identified him as Robert Saget. The Sheriff Tweeted, “The man was identified as Robert Saget & pronounced deceased on scene. Detectives found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case.”

Who Was Bob Saget?

Bob Saget’s birth name is Robert Lane Saget, who was an American stand-up comedian, actor, and television host. He was born on May 17, 1956, in Philadelphia to a Jewish family with his father named Benjamin Saget and his mother Roslyn Dolly. 

His father worked in a supermarket as an executive, while his mother was an administrator in the hospital. Saget’s family relocated to Encino, which was a neighborhood in Los Angeles.

Later the family moved back to Philadelphia, where he attended the Abington Senior High School and graduated in 1975. 

Upon his high school graduation, he aspired to become a doctor, but his English Honors teacher named Elaine Zimmerman, suggested he pursue a career in films due to his creative potential. 

While attending film school at Temple University, he received a merit award in the Students Academy Awards. He graduated in 1978 with a Bachelors of Arts degree.
