Cher’s mother passed away, but the reason for her death was not revealed in her Tweet. The family is grieving the loss of their loved one.
Singer Cher announced her mother’s death on Sunday, the late actress and singer Georgia Holt.
‘Mom is gone,’ wrote Cher. The news was confirmed by Cher’s agent Liz Rosenberg to the Washington Post.

Many celebrities, such as CNN’s Don Lemon, actor Seth Green, and Bravo anchor Andy Cohen, used multiple emojis to show their grief, as did Cher, who routinely employs them in her tweets to convey her emotions.
The Community actress Yvette Nicole Brown wrote, ‘The loss of your mom is heartbreaking. #RIP to your hero.’
Cher disclosed in September that Holt had been ill on and off.
The performer said, ‘She recently left the hospital. She was suffering from pneumonia. Her health is improving.’
The time and cause of death, among other information, have not been made public. Cher reported in September that Holt had been hospitalized with pneumonia but was recovering at the time.
Holt was 96 years old. Holt, who was born Jackie Jean Crouch in Arkansas, excelled in talent and beauty competitions early in life and fell in love with music.
She relocated to Hollywood in her 20s and won parts in several 1950s movies and TV shows, including “I Love Lucy” and “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.”
The actress and television personality was married six times, twice to Cher’s father, and had a strong relationship with her famous daughter.
She wed Cher’s father, John Sarkisian, twice: the first time, from 1946 to 1947, and the second time, from 1965 to 1966. She had four other marriages that ended in divorce.
She suffered financially as a single mother following her initial divorce from Sarkisian and briefly placed Cher in a Catholic orphanage. Craig Spencer and Holt were together from 1976 till her death.
The 76-year-old Cher has long praised and complimented her mother and the close relationship the two of them had.
Cher’s fans have become accustomed to receiving regular updates from the singer on her mother’s condition, activities, and wisdom-sharing.
Cher recalls her mother and her mother’s friends as being “very gorgeous” when she was a young girl.
Cher, 76, has always expressed her affection for her mother. In fact, she even served as executive producer of the 2013 documentary Dear Mom, Love Cher, which highlighted their strong relationship.
When someone asks, ‘Oh, your mother was married that many times?” it’s always the three of us. Our mother supported us on her own. She said in Dear Mom, Love Cher that “there were never truly men in the house.’
Condolences were sent her way
Cher’s celebrity friends and other prominent figures expressed their sympathies on social media. In a letter to the singer, Hillary Clinton expressed her condolences for her death. ‘I’m sending you the world’s love.’
Cher, I’m sending you love, wrote Marlee Matlin.
Welsh drag diva The Vivienne wrote to Cher, ‘Sending so much love my dear. She lived an incredible life and gave the world so much, including you. Today, I’m thinking about you and your entire family.’
Actress Maureen McCormick from The Brady Bunch penned, ‘The love you and your mom shared was so lovely and moving.’
