The bereaved family disclosed the particulars of Christian Novak’s memoriam. Coming to terms with the calamity that took away Christian and his two siblings, Kaitlyn and Nathaniel, was exceedingly difficult.

In the early hours of Wednesday, November 11, 2010, Kaitlyn, Nathaniel, Christian, and their mother, Dana Novak, were in slumber at the Skylar Pointe Apartments off El Camino when the apartment was engulfed in fire.

The fire tore through several units of the apartment complex. According to the Webster Fire Department officials, the fire started in the attic above the room where Christian, Nathaniel, and Kaitlyn slept.

After a thorough investigation by the authorities, it was revealed that the fire broke out just before 5 AM, continued overnight, and engulfed the apartment in flames.

Despite the valiant efforts of the firefighters, Christian and his siblings could not be saved.

Daniel Novak, the father of the deceased children, who had legally separated from his wife and did not reside in the apartment, has filed a lawsuit against Bell Partners, Inc., doing business as Skylar Pointe Apartments.

“The defendant’s gross negligence resulted in the death and serious bodily injuries of the plaintiffs,” the lawsuit alleges, as per Novak’s first amended petition.

Novak sought damages for pain, suffering, and mental anguish, along with medical expenses, funeral, and burial expenses for the three children who perished in the fire.

Eight-year-old Christian and his 12-year-old sister Kaitlyn were pronounced deceased at their home. Their younger brother, five-year-old Nathaniel, was taken to the hospital, but tragically, he also passed away.

The apartment was occupied by eight family members, including Kaitlyn, her two younger brothers, Christian and Nathaniel, her mother, Dana Novak, her uncle Robert Kennedy, his girlfriend, and her nephew Nicholas.

The uncle, who was sleeping downstairs with his girlfriend and nephew, woke up to the smell of smoke and the sound of cracking wood.

Out of the eight members, only five survived the devastating incident.

Fortunately, Dana, the mother of the deceased children, only sustained minor injuries and was discharged from the hospital.

The loss of three young lives serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of fire safety measures in our homes and communities.

A fire can claim lives in the blink of an eye. One moment, you are peacefully sleeping, envisioning your future, and the next, you are engulfed in burning flames with nowhere to turn.
