Enrica Cenzatti’s Former Husband, Andrea Bocelli:

Andrea Bocelli was born on September 22, 1958, in Lajatico, Tuscany, Italy. He is the son of Alessandro Bocelli and Edi. During Andrea’s mother’s pregnancy, doctors advised her to terminate it as it was evident that Andrea would be born with a disability. However, his mother disregarded the doctors’ advice and chose to proceed with the pregnancy. Andrea was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma from birth, which resulted in impaired vision. He grew up on the family farm with his younger brother Alberto and developed an interest in music from a young age. Despite his glaucoma-related challenges, the sounds of classical music calmed him and fostered his passion for music. He began taking piano lessons at the age of six and began singing in a tenor voice at the age of seven. His nanny gifted him a record by Franco Corelli, igniting his interest in tenor singers.

How Andrea Lost His Vision Completely?

At the age of 12, while focused on his musical aspirations, Andrea was playing soccer as a goalkeeper with his friends when he was struck in the head by a ball, resulting in a brain hemorrhage and complete blindness in both eyes. Doctors attempted various treatments, including leeches, in a final effort to restore his vision, but none were successful. Nevertheless, this setback did not deter him; he continued his education and ultimately earned a law degree from the University of Pisa.

After obtaining his law degree in 1986, he practiced as a court-appointed defense attorney for approximately a year before resigning from the profession. He then sought guidance from famed tenor Franco Corelli, who graciously accepted him as his student. Bocelli returned to performing at piano bars in the evenings to fund his lessons.

At these bars, he primarily performed songs by Frank Sinatra, Charles Aznavour, and some Italian pop music. Occasionally, he also showcased pieces by Mozart and Beethoven, although they were not as well-known. It was at one of these performances in 1987 that he met Enrica Cenzatti. At the time, she was a 17-year-old student, slim and bright. A romance quickly blossomed between them. She initially fell in love with his voice and then with him. They were married on June 27, 1992. A few years later, their first son, Amos, was born on February 22, 1995, followed by their second son, Matteo, on October 8, 1997.

Apart from his marriage, another significant event occurred in 1992 that altered Bocelli’s career trajectory. He successfully auditioned for a demo tape that was to be produced by Italian rock star Zucchero Fornaciari. Through Fornaciari, Bocelli crossed paths with Pavarotti and later accompanied Fornaciari on a European tour. He released his debut studio album, ‘Il Mare Calmo della Sera’, in 1994. Since then, he has released 14 additional studio albums, three greatest hits albums, and nine complete operas. He has sold over 90 million records and has been honored with the OMRI (Order of Merit of the Italian Republic) and OMDSM (Order of Merit of Duarte, Sánchez, and Mella) awards. Throughout the 1990s, Cenzatti was featured in numerous photographs published by various publications, alongside her husband and children.

Despite the dissolution of their marriage and subsequent divorce in 2002, Enrica Cenzatti and Andrea Bocelli remained dedicated to co-parenting their two sons. As of 2007, they resided in close proximity to each other in Forte Dei Marmi, a resort town in Tuscany, Italy. Although the boys primarily resided with their mother, they frequently visited and spent time with their father at his villa.

Following their separation, Bocelli began dating Veronica Berti, who also served as his manager. They eventually tied the knot on March 21, 2014. From his relationship with Berti, Bocelli has a daughter, Virginia, born on March 21, 2012.
