How to Cancel Audible Membership in Easy Steps

If you enjoy the concept of immersing in a captivating story by donning headphones in a cozy spot, then Audible, Amazon’s subscription-based service for audiobooks and podcasts, is likely already on your radar.

Upon registration, Audible grants a complimentary 30-day trial, offering ample opportunities to dive into the realm of fictional storytelling. It’s worth noting that Audible also offers complimentary books for your listening pleasure.

However, let’s face it, sometimes our ambitious audiobook plans don’t quite pan out. If you find yourself wanting to terminate your Audible subscription before the trial period ends, you can easily do so via Audible’s desktop site.

Audible, an Amazon-owned subscription service, creates and markets audiobooks, audio adaptations of print media, as well as TV and radio programs.

It’s crucial to understand: Upon cancellation, any unused credits in your account will be forfeited. Therefore, it’s advisable to either halt your membership or utilize these credits before canceling. Even if you decide to cancel after using your remaining credits, you will still have access to your audiobooks through your account on any device, allowing you to access your library and listen at your convenience.

Mere uninstallation of the Audible app from your mobile device will not result in the termination of your membership. Similarly, while canceling your membership is easier via a computer, you can execute the following steps from your tablet or mobile phone, as long as you are using the device’s web browser.

Below are the steps to terminate an Audible subscription.

Terminating Audible Membership

1. Visit audible.com and sign in using your Amazon account details.

2. After signing in, access your personalized greeting and select “Account details” from the dropdown menu.

3. On your account page, click on “Cancel membership,” initiating the cancellation process.

4. The cancellation process entails multiple pages to consider your decision. Simply follow the instructions and click “Continue canceling.”

5. On the final screen, confirm your cancellation by clicking the “Finish Canceling” button.

6. A “We’re sorry to see you go” message at the top of your account’s details page indicates successful cancellation. Additionally, you will receive an email confirming the termination of your Audible subscription.

Suspending Audible Membership

If you wish to take a temporary break, Audible Plus and Audible Premium Plus members have the option to suspend their account.

Members can suspend their Audible memberships once every 12 months for a maximum of 3 months. Note that only Audible Premium Plus members can access their library during a suspension.

To suspend your account, you will need to reach out to Audible directly:

1. Navigate to Audible’s Contact Us page

2. Select “Membership” and, under “Tell us more,” choose “Switch, Pause, or Cancel Membership” from the dropdown menu.

3. Then, opt for your preferred method of communication — chat, phone, or email — to engage with a customer service representative, who will review your account and discuss plan options.

No refund is provided after cancelling your subscription, and your member benefits cease as soon as your account is closed. Nonetheless, you can access your profile and listen to the books you purchased prior to cancellation.
