Kay Flock’s alleged involvement in the death of Oscar Hernandez has led to his recent federal indictment for racketeering conspiracy and other charges.

Bronx drill rapper Kay Flock, whose real name is Kevin Perez, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for racketeering conspiracy charges, murder in aid of racketeering, and more.

The indictment accuses him and five others of operating the Sev Side gang, whose primary purpose was to commit robberies, acts of violence, and financial fraud in their Belmont neighborhood in the Bronx.

The gang also faces several counts of attempted murder and illegal firearm possession. The indictment alleges that Perez and his associates “engaged in, among other activities, robberies, wire fraud, bank fraud, and acts involving murder and assault.”

They allegedly terrorized neighborhoods in the Bronx and Manhattan by killing and shooting other people.

Kay Flock is currently awaiting trial for a separate murder accusation in December 2021, where he is charged with killing Oscar Hernandez outside a Bronx barbershop.

He was also charged with two felony counts of criminal weapon possession in the second degree—the new indictment tacks on several counts related to this murder charge.

The 19-year-old rapper had managed to maintain a pleasant buzz while behind bars last April, thanks to his collaboration with Cardi B, “Shake It,” which peaked at No. 51 on the Hot 100.

However, with his legal problems piling up, what will happen to his career remains to be seen.

Kay Flock’s legal representative, Jeffrey Lichtman, stated that the federal charges did not come as a surprise, as they had been contesting Kevin’s state murder charge for over a year.

Lichtman claimed that the shooting was a clear act of self-defense and that Kevin had used a weapon to protect himself and another from an armed, violent gang member who was about to pull out the loaded gun in his hand.

Kay Flock had released The D.O.A. Tape via Capitol Records at the time of his arrest in New York. He has since re-released the project as The D.O.A. Tape, which includes the Cardi B collaboration “Shake It.”

The tape features his single “Shake It” with Cardi B, Dougie B, and Bory300. “Shake It” greatly uplifted the N.Y. drill scene in 2021 and peaked at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Kay Flock’s legal problems continue to mount, and it remains to be seen what the outcome of his trials will be.

He is set to appear in court on Thursday, March 9, 2023, for his murder charge. Meanwhile, the federal authorities of racketeering conspiracy and murder in aid of racketeering could further complicate his legal situation.

The rapper’s case has gained widespread attention due to his rising popularity in the New York drill scene.

His legal troubles have overshadowed Kay Flock’s talent and potential, and it remains to be seen if he can make a comeback after everything is settled.
