She came into existence in August 1992 and currently resides in California.
From 2016 to 2020, she autonomously launched music under her self-established label, BunHead Records, before securing a record deal with Amigo and Republic Records in 2021.
During her adolescent years, Petras embarked on her music recording journey.
Prior to uncovering a complete album, she independently introduced a variety of singles from 2017 to 2019, including “I Don’t Want It at All,” “Heart to Break,” and “1, 2, 3 Dayz Up,” collectively known as “Era 1.”

Subsequently, in 2022, Petras reached international chart success with her collaborative single “Unholy” featuring Sam Smith, topping the UK Singles Chart and the Billboard Hot 100.
This remarkable accomplishment made her the first openly transgender solo artist to reach the number one position in the United States.
Additionally, Petras made history as the first openly transgender artist to win a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Unholy” in 2023, joining the ranks of Wendy Carlos as the second transgender woman to receive a Grammy.

Born in Cologne, Germany, and raised in the countryside by her parents, Lutz and Konni, Petras always knew she identified as female, despite being assigned male at birth.
