She gained fame on the VH1 reality show I Want to Work For Diddy, yet she is best known for her portrayal of Sophia in the drama series.
Cox’s fame has only expanded since then, and she has worked tirelessly as an LGBTQ and trans activist.
She became the first transgender woman to feature on the Time magazine cover in 2014.
Additionally, she received the Daytime Emmy award in 2015, making her the first transgender woman to win it.
The performer is now revealing details about a new romantic interest in her life.
Cox co-stars in the new Netflix hit series Inventing Anna, and she informed Ellen DeGeneres in January that she has found love again.
Cox publicly disclosed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on January 28th that she had been dating someone since November/December.
The identity of Lavene Cox’s boyfriend is yet to be disclosed. However, she did share some spicy details about their relationship.
She divulged that they met on Tinder and were taking their relationship cautiously.
The Orange Is the New Black star engaged in a virtual conversation on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, discussing her unexpected romance last year during the pandemic and how she did not “anticipate it” amid the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
“Laverne has fallen in love once again. It’s wonderful. Love is a beautiful thing. It’s this chemical phenomenon,” she described. “He’s an amazing man. It was surprising. I thought he’d just be this attractive person I’d be hanging out with, but then something unexpected happened.”
