Lee’s Summit educator perishes in a traffic accident.

On Thursday morning, Rachel Stone, a high school instructor in Lee’s Summit, met with a fatal accident in Jackson County, Missouri.

Stone, who had been employed by Lee’s Summit School District for over 20 years, was driving her 2021 Chevy Malibu when it collided head-on with a 2012 Freightliner tractor-trailer.

As indicated in a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the truck driver lost control on the icy road, veered across the median, and collided with Stone’s vehicle.

The collision occurred at the crossroads of U.S. 50 Highway and 7 Highway. The truck driver did not sustain any physical injuries.

The educational institution sent out a communication to families and staff members validating Stone’s passing following the incident.

She was a physical education and health instructor and served as an assistant volleyball coach for the female team at the school.

Stone began her career as a student teacher in 1997 before transitioning to a full-time educator.

Her husband, Scott Stone, is also employed by the school district as a teacher at Bernard Campbell Middle School. She is survived by her two daughters.
