Despite grappling with a rare muscle disease named Inclusion-Body Myositis, Frampton remains an active musician, delighting fans worldwide.

Erroneous reports of Peter Frampton’s passing emerged on Twitter and Facebook, with users speculating and disseminating unverified information.

Twitter user @DavidXCrosen was among the first to post about the alleged demise of the musician. “Is it true?? I just got a report Peter Frampton is dead??? Anyone confirm this?” they tweeted on August 17.

Another Facebook user, Freddy Glenn Richardson, also asserted that Frampton had passed away at the age of 88.

Nevertheless, these speculations were promptly disproven by Frampton’s representatives, affirming his continued existence.

The Misconception about Jerry Moss’s Demise

The confusion surrounding Peter Frampton’s supposed death appears to have stemmed from a misinterpretation of his tribute to his music producer, Jerry Moss.

Moss, who co-established A&M Records with Herb Alpert, breathed his last on August 16, 2023, at his Bel Air, California residence.

Frampton took to Facebook to honor Moss and convey his condolences to his family.

In his tribute, Frampton spoke highly of Moss and expressed his appreciation for the support he received from the music executive. “I am so sorry to hear Jerry Moss has left us. Jerry was a true gentleman and if it weren’t for him, so many lives might have turned out very differently,” he said.

Frampton also attached a photo of himself with Moss to the post, which further fueled the rumors of his own demise.

However, it was confirmed that Frampton was still alive and that the confusion had arisen due to the timing of the two events.
