How did the couple meet?

Allison Holker and Stephen “tWitch” Boss’ marriage experienced love at first dance.

The two met when they competed as all-stars on So You Think You Can Dance season 7 in 2010; they didn’t start dating until the season finale party.

While they were filming a commercial in June 2013, Stephen surprised Allison by getting down on one knee and proposing.

Later, as the couple attended the Celebration of Dance Gala, they celebrated their engagement.

Allison proudly displayed her engagement ring on the red carpet.

The pair eventually got married in 2013 in Paso Robles, California, and have three kids together: a son Maddox, daughters Weslie and Zaia, and a daughter Weslie.

By sharing old photos, Stephen and Allison celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary on December 10. He posted on Instagram, “Happy anniversary my darling @allisonholker #9years.”

In honor of their anniversary, Allison also uploaded a Reel to Instagram with the caption: “Our ninth anniversary is today! I am so thankful to be able to celebrate this wonderful day! One of the best choices I’ve ever made in my life was to say YES too! I feel fortunate and cherished! I cherish you so much, darling, and I’ll never take our relationship for granted. Happy anniversary, boss wedding 2013, and I LOVE YOU.”

PEOPLE reported on December 14 that Stephen, who was 40 years old, died by suicide.

Allison posted a touching message about her late husband to PEOPLE after his passing.

She began the statement by saying, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share that my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen brought light into every space he entered. Above all else, he treasured his family, friends, and community. He believed that the best way to lead was to lead with love and light. He served as the foundation of our family, was the best husband and father, and served as an example to his followers.”

She added that it would be an understatement to say that he left a legacy, and his beneficial influence will still be felt. “There won’t be a day that goes by that we don’t remember him, I’m positive of that. During this trying moment for myself and especially for our three kids, we kindly request your privacy.”

Allison concluded by leaving her spouse a message. She ended by saying, “Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”
