Where Is Jasmine Richardson Now? & The Conspiracy Behind Her Family Death

Eighteen years ago, Jasmine Richardson’s family was massacred in Medicine Hat, Canada, and the shocking slaughter horrified the entire country.

Jasmine Richardson was the sole survivor in the residence and was left devastated.

Who perpetrated the killings? Why was she the lone survivor? Was Jasmine Richardson held responsible for the murders? What is the reality behind the account? And Where is Jasmine Richardson currently?

Let’s discover.

Chronology of Events in the Case – An Outline

Jasmine Richardson was 12 years old when she became embroiled in a harrowing ordeal in her life.

Eighteen years ago, Jasmine conspired with her ‘300-year-old werewolf’ companion – Jeremy Steinke, to eliminate her family members and terminate her parents and younger brother.

The motivation behind the killings was their disapproval of her relationship with Steinke.

At the time of the crime, her companion was a 23-year-old, while Jasmine was 12 years old.

Jasmine opted for a dark course by exterminating her family in the name of love.

Initially, authorities suspected that Jasmine had fled in terror when her family fell victim to the assailant, but it soon became apparent that Jasmine herself was implicated in the family’s demise.

Jasmine was subject to a maximum of ten years of confinement under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, which she completed in 2016.

Jasmine Richardson Eliminated Her Family Due to Their Disapproval of Her Marriage

A young girl, Jasmine Richardson, encountered Jeremy Steinke at a concert.

They were devout, high-achieving students and gradually adopted the goth subculture, characterized by all-black attire, heavy dark cosmetics, and mesh. Jasmine found her goth partner in Jeremy Steinke, ‘a 300-year-old werewolf’ and ‘soul eater.’

However, when she broached the subject of marriage with Jeremy, her parents confiscated her computer and shattered it upon realizing the gravity of her relationship with Steinke.

Despite direct opposition from Jasmine’s parents, her boyfriend, Jeremy, managed to communicate with her via email.

He conveyed to Jasmine that “I long for you more than taking lives.” He proposed, “Can we join forces and eradicate people together?”

Upon receiving his correspondence, Richardson implored her parents to return her computer.

Due to her parents impeding her union with Jeremy, she made the fateful decision to slay them with the aid of her paramour.

In the correspondence, she articulated her plan. Meanwhile, Steinke responded, stating “It starts with me ending their lives and culminates with me cohabiting with you.

Richardson divulged her plan to her peers, but none believed that she could go to such lengths in the name of love.

During the carnage, her companion stabbed Jasmine’s mother, Debra Richardson, twelve times, and subsequently stabbed her father, Marc Richardson, twenty-four times. Jasmine terminated her younger sibling, Jacob, who was 8 years old.

As they plotted the eradication of the family, Jasmine initially balked at participating in the killings, but eventually acquiesced to perpetrating the heinous act.

In an interview, Jasmine remarked, I had no intention of slaying my brother, Jacob, but I took his life solely to spare him from growing up an orphan.

According to CBC News, Brent Secondiak, who oversaw the case from its inception as an officer, disclosed that it took him years to erase the mental image of Jacob’s lifeless form and hoped that Jasmine had truly recovered from the trauma following the entire ordeal.

Brent Secondiak further expressed “I don’t genuinely comprehend it – an act of brutality and violence of that magnitude. However, I hope we can achieve peace and progress. My primary concern is that she hasn’t [been rehabilitated], that she has deceived the authorities, and that she hasn’t moved forward. I pray that she has genuinely assumed accountability for this and is capable of moving forward.”

However, Jasmine’s companion, Jeremy Steinke, received a life sentence following the slayings.

Where Is Jasmine Richardson Currently?

In 2016, she was granted release upon serving her ten-year sentence.

During her decade-long imprisonment, she underwent psychiatric treatment, followed by community oversight.

Presently, Jasmine leads a solitary and private life subsequent to enduring the worst ordeal of her life.

What Was Jasmine Richardson’s Incarceration Like?

Jasmine resided in a group home and studied in Calgary, a city in Canada, during her five years of incarceration.

Regarding Jasmine’s demeanor throughout her sentence, Justice Scott Brooker expressed his hope that Jasmine would not exhibit recalcitrance.

He added, “I believe your parents and brother would be proud of you. Clearly, you cannot undo the past; you can only live each day knowing you can control how you behave and what you do each day.

Furthermore, Brooker affirmed that Jasmine had fulfilled all the objectives of her rehabilitation.

Conversely, Jasmine’s neighbor held distinct views following her release.

A woman informed CBC News, “If you’re old enough to commit the crime, you should do the time.

Public’s Response to Jasmine’s Liberation

The denizens of Medicine Hat expressed divergent opinions; some were taken aback, while others extended sympathy upon Jasmine’s release.

They contended that Jasmine deserved another chance at life, as reported by CBC News.

According to sources, a neighbor stated that Jasmine should be given another opportunity owing to her age. The individual added that what troubled her was how Jasmine would navigate her new life given her traumatic past.

She further expressed, “I sympathize with Jasmine, but it’s unimaginable that anybody could commit such an act.”

Justice Scott Brooker conducted a reassessment of Jasmine’s rehabilitation under an Intensive Rehabilitative Custody and Supervision (IRCS) order.

In 2012, the court reduced the frequency of Jasmine’s progress evaluations from two to one per year.

When her report was presented in court, it lauded Jasmine’s progress and observed her genuine contrition. The attorney Katherin Beyak remarked, “We see her integrating into the community, getting her bearings, and building a life for herself.”

In summary, Jasmine Richardson exterminated her family as a teenager due to her immaturity. Despite enduring numerous trials, she garnered sympathy from everyone due to her innocence in the slayings. Consequently, she was incarcerated under the close supervision of a psychiatrist to rehabilitate her from her past trauma.
