Who Is Burt Bacharach Wife, Jane Hansen?

Jane Hansen, the wife of Burt Bacharach, remained by his side through all the ups and downs until his passing. The renowned singer was a musical prodigy who left a lasting impact on the world with his iconic romantic melodies.

Despite his triumphs in the music industry, his personal life was marked by heartache and misfortune. He departed on 8th February 2023 at the age of 94.

Bacharach gained widespread recognition for his exceptional songwriting abilities and his knack for crafting some of the most unforgettable love ballads in history, such as Dusty Springfield’s “I Don’t Know What to Do With Myself” and Aretha Franklin’s “I Say a Little Prayer.”

Even though he was known for his extensive collection of love songs, he never expressed the pain and suffering he encountered in his own personal life within his music.

Bacharach endured three unsuccessful marriages before discovering his life partner, a woman who remained by his side for thirty years until his passing.

His romantic life was a continuous quest for genuine love, and he encountered numerous trials and tribulations before finally finding happiness with Jane Hansen.

Despite the hardships he faced in his personal life, he continued to create music that touched the hearts of millions, establishing himself as a true icon of the music industry.

Exploring Burt Bacharach’s Marriages

Burt Bacharach did not confine himself to one life partner but entered into matrimony four times – first with Paula Stewart, then with Angie Dickinson, subsequently with Jane Hansen, and finally with Carole Bayer Sager.

Even though Burt Bacharach experienced significant success in his career, his former partners receive relatively little acclaim. Stewart was a celebrated actress who excelled in theater, television, and later in film.

Dickinson gained worldwide renown for her role in Mission: Impossible from 1966-1973. Hansen served as an administrator at Skateboard Express magazine and later managed numerous stars and celebrities as a managing director at ATV Music Corp.

Lastly, Sager was a multi-Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, which complemented Bacharach’s skill set. Despite the variety of spouses throughout Bacharach’s life, Hansen remained steadfast beside him until his passing in 2019.

The saying “third time’s the charm” seemingly held true for Tony Award-winning composer Burt Bacharach.

Following his first marriage to actress/dancer Paula Stewart in 1953, which concluded on a sour note after five years due to their incompatibility, he found solace with his second wife, Angie Dickinson, only to eventually part ways in 1970.

Two years later, in 1982, Bacharach married for the third time to lyricist Carole Bayer Sager. A New York University alumna, Sager gained notoriety early on as the writer behind A Groovy Kind of Love before releasing her debut album under her own name in 1977. Unfazed by two divorces, Bacharach remained in matrimony with Sager for over three decades until their separation in 2016.
